Jay-Jay Okocha and Bruno N’Gotty have been released by Bolton Wanderers, the Premier League club said.

Former Nigeria captain Okocha and French central defender N’Gotty have been released by manager San Allardyce at the end of their contracts.

“Jay-Jay and Bruno will go down in Wanderers folklore,” Allardyce said.

“Not only for what they brought to the club in terms of experience and quality, but also for what they helped us to achieve during their time here,” he told the website.

“We are hoping to reduce the overall age of our squad and it was a tough decision not to offer them new deals.”

Okocha, 32, joined the club in 2002 from Paris St Germain on a free transfer.

N’Gotty, 34, who initially joined on loan the previous year, helped PSG win the European Cup Winners Cup in 1996 before spells with Milan and Marseille.
