After weeks of uncertainty, Newcastle United have finally completed the signing of Titus Bramble from Ipswich Town for œ5 million.

The deal was originally put inplace a month ago but Newcastle refused to commit themselves until Bramble had proved his fitness to the satisfaction of the club’s medical staff. However, having undergone extensive tests in recent weeks, the club have finally agreed to put pen to paper on the deal.

Bramble was understandably relieved that the move had finally gone through.

“While I am sad to be leaving Ipswich, I am thrilled to be joining such a massive club as Newcastle,” said Bramble.

“There are some terrific players here, a tremendous manager and I cannot wait for the new season to start.”

Newcastle boss Sir Bobby Robson was equally delighted with the deal.

“I am delighted Titus will be part of our squad next season,” Robson said.

“He is a powerfully built lad who has the potential to achieve great things in the game.”
