Rangers were crowned Scottish champions after they beat Hibernian 1-0 while rivals Celtic conceded two goals in the last two minutes to go down to a shock 2-1 defeat at Motherwell.

Rangers, who started the day two points adrift leaders Celtic, finished on 93 points a point above last season’s champions in a remarkable climax to the Scottish season.

Celtic were seemingly on course for the 40th league title in their history until Scott McDonald cancelled out Chris Sutton’s first-half goal with an 88th-minute equaliser.

McDonald added a 90th-minute winner after Rangers had completed their victory thanks to Nacho Novo strike at Hibernian.
