Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o will be out of action for about 10 days after a scan on Monday showed a knee injury picked up during Sunday’s defeat to Real Madrid, was not as serious as first feared.

The Cameroon striker was carried off on a stretcher after falling awkwardly near the end of Sunday’s encounter at the Bernabeu.

“The player has an inflamed knee cartilage. With treatment this kind of injury usually involves a recovery time of about 10 days,” the club’s website said.

Eto’o will miss next weekend’s league match against Getafe at home but could return to face Malaga in the following week.
