Feyenoord have named Bert van Marwijk as coach to replace Erwin Koeman, who resigned last month after a disapppointing campaign which saw the Rotterdam-based club finish seventh in the Dutch first division.

Thursday’s appointment sees the 55-year-old embarking on his second spell at Feyenoord, who he coached between 2000 and 2004.

He left in July 2004 for Borussia Dortmund but was sacked in December last year.
