FIFA recorded a profit of 141 million Swiss francs last year, world football’s governing body has confirmed.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter said he was pleased that the organisation’s results.

“Our finances are healthy in every respect,” Blatter said in a statement.

“We can now celebrate the FIFA centennial safe in the knowledge that we have built upon our forefathers’ legacy and done everything in our power to guarantee a successful future.”

Blatter was cleared of financial mismanagement by a Swiss court and last year won damages for defamation.

FIFA reported income of 712 million Swiss francs in the year to December 31, 2003.

“The excellent figures can be attributed primarily to FIFA’s success in keeping within the 2003 budget in terms of expenses, while also exceeding expectations in terms of revenue,” the statement said.
