Former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier is one of four candidates being considered as the new Wales manager, the Welsh Football Association has confirmed.

“Gerard Houllier has offered his services and is on a short-list with John Toshack, Ian Rush and Bryan Flynn”, said Welsh FA spokesman Ceri Stennett.

The four men are to be interviewed after next week’s Welsh FA board meeting.

Houllier, the former France national coach was sacked by Liverpool in May.

Former Liverpool striker Toshack has vasst coaching experience throughout Europe, managed Wales for just one match before walking out 10 years ago.

Rush, currently in charge at Chesrter City, is another former Liverpool and Wales striker, while Flynn was formerly in charge at Wrexham.
