Roy Keane and Rio Ferdinand will miss Manchester United’s UEFA Champions League clash against Sparta Prague.

Keane has contracted a virus and manager Sir Alex Ferguson has decided not to risk him.

Ferdinand misses the game because he is to attend the funeral of his grandmother.

Paul Scholes, who has missed much of the season through injury, is expected to replace Keane, while Wes Brown is now favourite to partner Mikael Silvestre in central defence.

South African Quinton Fortune also misses out with a calf injury.
