Paris Saint Germain reserve team coach Antoine Kombouare has emerged as the surprise favourite manage the club when Luis Fernandez stands down at the end of the season.

Due to the current economic downturn, PSG cannot afford to hire a big name coach on a huge salary so it looks likely Kombouare will be promoted to the first team.

He was reportedly offered the job in December, but turned it down to see out the season with the reserves.

Many high profile names, including Frank Rijkaard have been linked with the post in the past few weeks.

Fernandez himself has been linked with the vacant manager’s job at Fulham next season. The Parisians have endured a poor season by their own standards, currently ninth in the league and the new manager will have the task of trying to keep Ronaldinho at the club
