Former international goalkeeper Andreas Kopke has been named as the new goalkeeping coach of the German national team.

The 42-year-old Kopke, a member of Germany’s victorious Euro 96 team, replaces Sepp Maier who was recently sacked for taking sides in the rivalry between Oliver Kahn and Jens Lehmann.

“I look forward to this new challenge and working alongside Jurgen Klinsmann, Joachim Loew and Oliver Bierhoff,” Kopke said.
