Fernando Morientes insists that he is happy at Real Madrid, despite the prospect of him actually starting a game looking slim.

The arrival of Ronaldo looked to have ended Morientes’ career at the Bernabeu, and indeed the Spanish striker was used as a makeweight in that deal until he pulled out of a transfer to Barcelona – a move which almost scuppered Ronaldo’s switch to Real.

Morientes continuesto be linked to a move away from Real with Tottenham known to be monitoring his situation.

“I was flattered by their (Tottenham’s) interest and I’ve been looking out for their results,’ admmitted Morientes. ‘But that does not mean that I have any thoughts of joining the club.”

“Manchester United may want a striker who has not played in the Champions League, but I’m happy to stay at Real,’ he added.
