Ian Porterfield, one of British football’s most widely-travelled coaching exports, has been sacked by top Ghanaian club Asante Kotoko.

Porterfield, former manager of Aberdeen and Chelsea back home, clashed with Herbert Mensah, owner and president of the former African club champions.

Mensah said: “Management cannot work with a coach who shows so little appreciation for the establishment and people who appointed him.”

German coach Ralf Zumdick is favourite to succeed Porterfield.
