Racing Santander have been docked a point by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) after fielding too many non-EU players during the goalless draw against Osasuna last weekend.

The club have also been fined €3,000, while manager Lucas Alcaraz has been banned for one month afterhe inadvertently fielded four non-European Union players for two minutes of Sunday’s match.

The decision means that Racing will remain in 13th place in the table, with 20 points rather than 21, while Osasuna will stay fourth with 27. Both clubs have the right to appeal against the ruling.

Alcaraz brought on Uruguayan winger Mario Regueiro Êfor Spanish forward Javi Guerrero midway through the second half, despite already having Israeli forwards Yossi Benayoun and Omri Afek and Brazilian midfielder Anderson Silva on the pitch. Within two minutes of the substitution, Alcaraz withdrew one of the players, but by then, the offence had been committed.
