Italy coach Giovanni Trapattoni has pronounced himself satisfied with his team’s comfortable 2-0 win over Ecuador in Sapporo.

Trapattoni said that Italy’s thorough pre-tournament preparations paid off.

“I’ve been working with the players since May 11 and I was very satisfied with the way they played tonight.

“I know people were interested in seeing how Italy would play and I hope we’ve given you some satisfaction.”

Meanwhile, Ecuador’s Colombian coach Hernan Dario Gomez was encouraged by his side’s improved second half performance.

“With our peformance in the second half we’re not discouraged and we have the strength and the preparation to go on to the next match,”he said.
