Manchester United have agreed new long-term contracts with Rio Ferdinand, Wes Brown and Michael Carrick.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed the trio have ended uncertainty about their futures by agreeing new deals.

Ferdinand has accepted a deal until 2013, while Carrick has been rewarded for his improved form this season.

The future of Brown had been up in the air after the England defender repeatedly turned the contract which had been offered. Brown was due to become a free agent in the summer and United had already rejected an approach from Newcastle United during January’s transfer window.
