Liverpool’s bid to land Real Zaragoza defender Gabriel Milito looks destined to fail after the Spanish club reiterated their desire to retain the defender.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez is reported to be keen sign the 24-year-old centre back, but Zaragoza are determined to hold on to Milito.

Zaragoza chief executive Jeronimo Suarez believes the Argentinian is almost certain to stay.

“It’s practically impossible that Milito will go,” he stated.

“Our interest is to keep him and for that reason he has a very good offer from the club to extend and improve his contract.”
