Business as usual at the top of the ESM Golden Shoe rankings with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi both on target again, to take their tallies to 39 and 35 respectively.
Ronaldo is now up to 39 for the season, four clear of his Barcelona rival. With six league games remaining, the Portuguese striker still has a chance of eclipsing Messi’s all-time Spanish record of 50.
The leading pair are well clear of a trio of League strikers: Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, and Tottenham’s Harry Kane who sit in joint third place on 20 goals. For Griezmann in particular, this has been a stellar debut campaign for Diego Simeone’s side.
Elsewhere in the top ten there were goals for Red Bull Salzburg’s Jonatan Soriano, Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette and Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Eran Zahavi.

Rules
Only the leading five countries – Spain, Italy, Germany, England and Portugal – in the UEFA rankings have two as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between clubs from those countries and those of other nations.A player cannot play first in a summer league (e.g. Norway) and then in a winter league (e.g. Spain) and combine the points totals for each season.
