Ajax technical director Louis van Gaal has admitted that the club could be contemplating a move for former players Marc Overmars and Jesper Gronkjaer.
Van Gaal watched Chelsea last month and Gronkjaer is believed to beÊthe reason for his visit to Stamford Bridge.
Overmars has struggled to hold down a place at Barcelona and it is understood he would be happy to return to Ajax.
Van Gaal believes that Overmars and Gronkjaer, with their prior knowledge of the club, would represent ideal signings.
“Those two players know the Ajax system,” van Gaal told DutchÊTV.
Ajax coach Ronald Koeman is expected to make signings in the summer, with Rafael van der Vaart reported to be ready toÊleave the club.
