Former Lazio and Inter midfielder Matias Almeyda looks set to join unfashionable Seria A outfit Brecia.
The team from the North East of Italy finished 11th in Serie A last year, and Almeyda, available on a free transfer, would rather remain in Italy than take a lucrative move abroad.
The 31 year old had been linked with a move to Bolton in the Premiership, but has now opted to take a pay cut and join Brecia.
Brecia have been searching for a new midfielder since losing Mateo Brighi to Juventus earlier in the summer.
