The Scottish Football Association (SFA) are to examine televeision footage from Rangers Scottish Cup tie with Ayr United, after it was alleged that Rangers skipper Lorenzo Amoruso spat at an opponent.
Rangers 1-0 win was overshadowed by Ayr striker James Grady’s claim that Amoruso had spat at him during the game.
“The incident between the players is likely to be looked at by the video review panel,’ confimed an SFA spokesman.
‘Once they look at the incident they will decide if he (Amoruso) has a case to answer.”
After the match, Grady claimed: “It’s a man’s game, but spitting isn’t. It was 100 percent deliberate.”
Meanwhile, Amoruso, whohas deniedthe spitting allegation, claimed Grady racially abused him.
“He called me an Italian bastard,’ stated Amoruso. ‘I have never spat at a player on purpose in my life. It was a complete acciden.’
The SFA’s three-man video review panel will examine footage of the incident before deciding whether the Italian should be charged.
