Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that Sunday’s 6-0 win over Fiorentina was the perfect confidence booster ahead of next weekend’s top of the table clash against Juventus.

“It was our best match of the season,” Ancelotti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The strikers passed the ball well and the rest of the team put in a great performance behind them.

“In the last few weeks we haven’t shown what we’re capable of, but against Fiorentina I thought we were excellent.”

Ancelotti’s players were equally delighted.

“If we play like this, who is going to stop us?” asked striker Hernan Crespo, who scored Milan’s fourth goal, his fifth in his last six matches.

The result put Milan on 34 points from 15 games, four behind Juventus, who struggled to overcome lowly Bologna 1-0.

Fabio Capello’s team required a 86th-minute Pavel Nedved free kick to secure victory – a performance which .disappointed the Juventus coach.

“We didn’t move the ball around quickly enough and allowed Bologna to close us down,” said Capello.

“We also missed a lot of passes, especially during the first quarter of an hour. We should have been able to wrap up the match a lot faster.

“The game against Milan will be important, but not decisive. It could go either way. The standings mean nothing”.
