Feyenoord’s Jorge Acuna was taken to hospital after crowd trouble at a reserve game with Ajax on Thursday night.

The Chilean midfielder sustained injuries to the head, neck, ribs and stomach after Ajax supporters invaded the pitch after the match at De Toekomst stadium in Amsterdam.

Several other Feyenoord players were also assaulted by Ajax supporters but Acuna was the most seriously injured and was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

“It was horrible chaos,” said Feyenoord’s reserve-team coach, Mario Been.

“My players were lying on the ground everywhere (and) had to be rescued by Ajax second-team coach John van’t Schip and (Ajax) player Daniel de Ridder.”

“I am deeply ashamed about the behaviour of this group of Ajax fans,” said the Amsterdam club’s general manager, Arie van Eijden.
