Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has admitted that his he is not concerned with the quality of his team’s performance when they face Russia, merely the result.

Following their shock opening defeat by Greece, Scolari said: “We have to win.

“What did Spain beat Russia by? 1-0. Were they happy with that? Yes. Would their coach Inaki Saez have been happier with 15-0? Of course.”

“But even half-nil would be enough for us, anything more than that will be a bonus.”

Scolari was giving nothing away about his line-up although speculation has been rife that Porto’s Deco will play in place of Rui Costa.

Asked about his forward line, Scolari refused to identify which players would start against Russia.

“You can field two, three, four or five forwards but it doesn’t make any difference if there’s no organisation and they don’t get the ball.”
