Arsenal have reportedly secured the signature of Dutch superstar Patrick Kluivert at a bargain price of £1.5m.

It is believed that the Gunners have signed a pre-contract agreement to take the Barcelona striker to Highbury in the summer.

Kluivert would usually command a much greater fee but will exercise a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for the much-reduced sum.

The Holland international has made no secret of his desire to play in the Premiership and Arsenal have always been his preferred choice.

“I want to sample life in England and taste the excitement of Premiership football before my career ends because I hear so many great things about it,’ said Kluivert.

“I have played in Holland, and Italy and Spain and it is only natural that I am curious about England.”

Kluivert, who was born on exactly the same day as Manchester United’s Ruud Van Nistlerooy, would reportedly earn a massive £80,000 a week smashing Arsenal’s solid wage structure.

This comes at the same time the North London side attempt to lure fellow Dutchman, Robin van Persie away from Feyenoord.
