Atalanta have axed manager Andrea Mandorlini following their poor start to the season.
The Bergamo club are roooted to the foot of Serie A and the weekend defeat to fellow strugglers Palermo promPted the club’s board to dismiss Mandorlini. His departure comes despite a publich show of backing by Atalanta president Ivan Ruggeri last week.
A statement released on Atalanta’s website read: “The club wants to thank Mr Mandorlini for the professionalism and dedication he brought to the job.”
