Athletic Bilbao will present Joaquin Caparros as their new coach on Friday, the club said on their official web site.

Caparros, 51, stepped down as coach of Deportivo Coruna last month after two difficult years in charge. Prior to that, he had a five-year spell with Sevilla, where he gained a reputation for developing young talent.

He replaces Jose Manuel Esnar, known as “Mane” in Spain, who stepped in at Bilbao last November to help steer the club to safety. They finished a point above the relegation zone on the final day.
