Liverpool defender Fabio Aurelio is set to miss the rest of the season as a result of the injury he picked up in Tuesday’s Champions League encounter with Chelsea.
The full-back suffered a torn abductor muscle during his side’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Anfield.
Aurelio was carried off in the second half following a collision with Joe Cole and Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez expects the Brazilian to be out of action for up to three weeks.
“I have been talking with the doctor and with this kind of injury it usually takes a minimum of three weeks for the player to recover so it will be very difficult for Fabio to play again this season,” said Benitez.
“It is very disappointing because Fabio has been doing a good job for the team.”
