Germany captain Michael Ballack is set to miss the World Cup’s opening match.
The 29-year-old had to pull out of a training session on Wednesday before it ended.
Coach Jurgen Klinsmann said he would not select anyone who could not train 48 hours before a match.
However, the German Football Association announced Ballack will “receive intensive medical treatment in the next few hours”.
