Germany captain Michael Ballack has denied reports claiming he has agreed to join Chelsea next season.

According to today’s Daily Mail, Ballack, who is out of contract in June after four years with Bayern Munich, met various officials at Stamford Bridge including the manager Jose Mourinho, before agreeing to move to Chelsea on wages of £121,000-a-week.

But Ballack issued a statement through German FA spokesman Harald Stenger saying: “I have not signed anything and I was also not in London.”

The report stated that Ballack has signed a four-year deal worth £25m to join Chelsea next season.

Earlier, Ballack’s agent Michael Becker also denied the claim that the player had signed a deal with the Premiership champions.

“This is all starting to get boring and tiring,” Becker told Germany’s Spiegel Online. “I can only say that Michael has not signed anywhere.”
