Michael Ballack has denied he had lined up a move to the Premiership with Manchester United. There had been speculation earlier in the week that Ballack would would see out his contract with Bayern before joining United in 12 months time, but the German midfielder said he was happy at Bayern.
“I spoke with Bayern and it was a good discussion,” said the 28-year-old.
“I haven’t spoken with anyone else, nor do I want to. No-one’s spoken about a deadline: on the contrary, I have been told to take my time.”
Bayern have offered Ballack a new deal and are waiting to hear whether he will stay.
Earlier in the week, Ballack’s agent Michael Becker dismissed reports linking him with United.
“There is no pre-contract, no gentleman’s agreement,” said Becker.
“The only people we are talking to now are Bayern.”
Club president Franz Beckenbauer said: “Everything is in Ballack’s hands. I would advise him to seize the opportunity.”
