The German football federation has fined Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Michael Ballack for taking part in a chant insulting fans of Cologne after a recent Bundesliga match.
Ballack was caught on film standing in front of Leverkusen fans following their March 20 league game against Schalke, holding a loud hailer and leading them in their chants directed against Bundesliga rivals Cologne.
Ballack later apologized. He was fined €8,000.
