Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has admitted that he offered both Real Madrid and Barcelona a chance to buy Jose Antonio Reyes before sealing a deal with Arsenal.

Del Nido called his counterparts at Real and Barca, Florentino Perez and Joan Laporta, to notify them of Arsenal’s interest, but neither club were prepared to match the GUnners offer.

Del Nido also confirmed that Chelsea had made a last-minute bid to sign Reyes from under the noses of their Premiership rivals with an offer worth €32 million, but their bid was rejected as it did not contain the same guarantees as Arsenal’s deal.
