Barcelona have dismissed reports claiming they were poised to sign Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.
According to speculation in the English press over the weekend, Barcelona had opened contract negotiations with the player.
But Barcelona vice president Albert Vicens insists there has been no contact with the England international.
“I am in Ibiza on holiday and I am most surprised by this news because I am not in any negotiations,” Vicens told Sport.
“We have never negotiated with Lampard about his arrival in January.”
Barcelona have also confirmed that Juliano Belletti will be out of action for at least ten days.
The full-back sustained a muscle injury in his leg on the club’s pre-season tour of Asia and has now been ordered to rest.
