Barcelona’s sport director Txiki Beguiristain has ruled out the possibility of Ronaldinho joining Chelsea.

Reports have suggested that Chelsea have made an approach for the Brazilian playmaker after Ronaldinho’s brother and agent, agent Roberto de Assis Moreira, reportedly held talks with Blues owner Roman Abramovich.

Barcelona have moved quickly to dispel the rumours and Beguiristain insists Ronaldinho is going nowhere.

“We do not want to sell him,” Beguiristain told Catalunya Radio. “Ronaldinho is our player and I am totally convinced that he will remain at the club.

“In this aspect the decision of Barcelona is clear.”

“It is normal that any of the big clubs in the world desires Ronaldinho, but he has signed a deal with us,” added Beguiristain.

The Brazilian’s contract at Barcelona contains a buy-out clause of €125m but this is believed to be no more than a nominal figure open to negotiation. Abramovich unerstands that Moreira may be using his interest to improve Ronaldinho’s salary at Barcelona but he remains undeterred.

Beguiristain dismissed concerns about Ronaldinho’s Moreira holding talks with Chelsea in London, saying: “This is a subject that does not interest me.”
