Barcelona president Joan Laporta has admitted he would like to sign Serie A strikers Christian Vieri and David Trezeguet.

“I want to put two or three good new players at the coach’s disposal,” said Laporta in Tuttosport.

“Trezeguet and Vieri? They are two really major players but I don’t want to go into details.

“The truth is that at the moment nothing is concrete because it is not the time to make definitive choices.

“With Juve we have a very friendly relationship and I consider Roberto Bettega a friend.

“At the moment we are delighted with the way that negotiations over Edgar Davids went.

“It is a pleasure doing business with Juve – they are a very professional club.

“We may well discuss Trezeguet, but that’s not to say anything will come of the talks.”

Davids has done well since leaving Juventus and the Catalan club are keen to make the deal permanent.

“We will try to confirm Davids,” added Laporta.

“His performances have satisfied us.

“He is very enthusiastic and he has brought the winning mentality.

“We must convince him and I am confident.”
