David Beckham has hinted there has been progress in Milan’s attempts to turn his loan move into a permanent transfer.

The England international is currently nearing the end of his short-term loan with the Serie A outfit from MLS outfit LA Galaxy and is due to return to the United States next month.

Beckham has made no secret of his desire to remain in Europe to boost his chances of staying in Fabio Capello’s England set-up, and milan have confirmed that they want him to stay. However, the two clubs have failed to reach agreement over a possible permanent switch.

“I have not heard from Galaxy, but from what has been said, I gather there could be good news,” he told the club’s official website. “I want to stay at Milan.

“I really don’t know what will happen, but I do know that next week will be very important.

“[Returning to MLS] could affect Capello’s decisions. I love playing football and therefore I want to stay here.”
