Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has revealed that David Beckham made the first moves regarding a loan deal with the Italian club.

Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Beckham is considering a short-term loan switch to the San Siro to maintain his fitness during the MLS close-season.

However, despite Milan’s eagerness to agree a loan deal for the 33-year-old, Galliani insists Beckham’s camp made the initial approach.

“The Beckham stuff came from him,” Galliani told Rai television.

“It was the English player who made his lawyers phone us having decided to play for Milan.

“Beckham, very probably, will be with us from the start of January, he will stay with us for two or three months then he will go back.

“It is not definite that he is coming.”
