Injury has forced England captain David Beckham to withdraw from England’s squad to face Sweden on Wednesday.
Beckham is still suffering from a calf injury sustained at the weekend and has decided to rest it rather than risk agggravating the knock.
News of Beckham’s absence, although not unexpected, will be a significant blow for coach Sven Goran Eriksson as he continues his preparations for EURO 2004.
