Wolves are now favourites to be relegated from the Premiership after slumping to a 3-0 defeat at Blackburn

Leicester manager Sven-Goran Eriksson says he has failed in an attempt to sign former England midfielder David Beckham from the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Eriksson, whose team is currently in the bottom half of the Championship, English football’s second tier, says “I spoke to David’s agent to see if there was a chance. He said it was not possible.”

Beckham, who will be entering the final year of his Galaxy contract when the American season resumes next March, skippered England while Eriksson was in charge of the team from 2001-06.

LA Galaxy have said Beckham won’t be able to go on loan during the current Major League Soccer post season after he was injured during a stint at Milan in March.
