Sepp Blatter has told England that David Beckham is the most important figure in their bid to host the World Cup in 2018.
The England international has flown out to Cape Town in South Africa to be a guest at Friday’s draw for next summer’s finals.
FIFA president Blatter believes that the ‘Beckham-brand’ should be utilised as it could make the difference between success and failure.
He said: “They have to use him for everything, forever. If they don’t they are not very intelligent.
“I’ve been working in Fifa for 35 years and I know a good guy for big occasions.
“He’s one of the most important figures in football. He has a personal charisma that very few players have. He’s a great man.
“Perhaps he is not the best player in the world but he is a good guy and he is also the best ambassador for fair play in football.”
