Vitoria Guimaraes and Benfica have been ordered to play their next home Portuguese Super Liga matches at neutral venues after crowd trouble marred their league meeting on Saturday.

The Disciplinary Commission of the Portuguese League met today to discuss the weekend’s events at Guimaraes’ temporary home in Felgueiras, the Dr Machado de Matos stadium.

Early in the second-half a Benfica supporter threw a firework on to the pitch which injured Guimaraes substitute Marcinho and the club’s trainer Jorge Ramiro.

Late in the game, home fans threw seats on to the pitch and into seating occupied by journalists.

The Disciplinary Commission has ordered Guimaraes’s next home fixture against Leiria on Friday to be played at the Dos Arcos stadium, home to Rio Ave.

Meanwhile, Benfica will have been ordered to play their match against Beira-Mar on 26 January at the Torres Novas Municipal stadium in Torres Novas.
