Dennis Bergkamp will not travel to Germany for Arsenal’s Champions League tie against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

Bergkamp has insisted that Dortmund is reachable by car, but manager Arsene Wenger has decided to rest the Dutchman, who has just returned from injury.

Bergkamp, notorious for hisfear of flying, travelled to Arsenal’s first away game in Eindhoven by road and said he was ready to do the same for Dortmund.

“It’s not far, not that much further than Eindhoven. I don’t have a problem with getting there,” he said.

But Wenger will rely on his other string options Thierry Henry, Kanu and Sylvain Wiltord as Arsenal seek the point that will qualify them for the second group phase.
