Spartak Moscow striker VladimirBeschastnykh has confirmed he is joining Turkey’s Fenerbahce.

“Fenerbahce are a club with a name and ambition, so I had no reason to hesitate,” said Beschastnykh on putting pen to papper on a two-and-a-half year deal.

Beschastnykh was a target for Bolton Wanderers but the Premier League club wanted the Russian striker to undertake a trial with the club, something he was unwilling to do.

“I am not 18 any more and I don’t think clubs need a trial before they sign me,” Beschastnykh said, referring to his time at Bolton.

“I have plans for Fenerbahce – I want to win the Turkish league and do well in the (UEFA) Champions League next season. I hope everything works out for me.”
