Germany coach Rudi Voller was magnanimous in defeat following his team’s 2-0 World Cup final defeat, stating that Brazil were worthy winners.

“Brazil were worthy winners,” said Voller. “We saw Brazil show their individual class.

“We played very well in the first 35 minutes and we felt we were controlling the game.

“But as the game went on, we saw their great individual talent, they are so strong in one-on-one situations and in quick passing and that began to give us more and more problems.

“There’s no doubt that Brazil are worthy world champions.

“We have got to be happy with what we achieved here. We owe a lot to Oliver Kahn and don’t forget we had a lot of injured players in this tournament.”
