Benfica midfielder Augustin Binya has been banned for six matches following his horror tackle on Celtic’s Scott Brown.

Binya was sent off during the UEFA Champions League encounter between the two clubs at Parkhead earlier this month following his challenge.

Uefa has looked into the tackle and has punished the Benfica youngster with a six-match suspension.

Binya will now miss the Portuguese club’s remaining Champions League group games against Milan on 28th November and Shakhtar Donetsk on 4th December.

Binya has three days to lodge an appeal against the sanction after previously insisting he did not deliberately set out to hurt Brown.
