With the future of Newcastle United still uncertain, Alan Shearer has been lengthened to take the St James’ Park hot-seat – who do you think will take the reigns for next season?

Manchester City striker Valeri Bojinov is joining Parma on loan for the forthcoming season.

“The national team is very important for me,” 23-year-old Bojinov told Darik. “But to be in the national team you need matches. That’s why I decided to move to Parma.”

Bojinov joined City from Fiorentina in 2007 but his spell at the club has been ruined by injuries.

City have signed strikers Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz during the close season reducing Bojinov’s chances of a regular place in the team.

Parma hope Bojinov will be a suitable replacement for striker Cristiano Lucarelli, who has joined Livorno.
