Liam Brady is looking to hold talks with Giovanni Trapattoni about a possible role with the Republic of Ireland, but he wants to retain his job at Arsenal.

Newly appointed Ireland boss Trapattoni confirmed on Wednesday that he was hoping to appoint Brady to his coaching team after being announced as the Republic’s new manager.

Brady, who is currently head of youth development at Arsenal, is interested by a role with the Republic.

“I need to talk to Giovanni a bit more,” Brady told RTE.”I haven’t actually spoken to him face to face.

“I’ve only spoken to him over the phone, so I would need to sit down with him face to face, find out what he would want from me or what I could do for him and then obviously take it up with Arsenal.

“But I don’t want to talk too much about that because I don’t know what’s going to develop until I sit down and talk with Mr Trapattoni.

“I don’t want to give up my job at Arsenal. I love my job with Arsenal. We need to talk it over obviously.”
