FC Zurich have sacked coach Georges Bregy, the club have confirmed.

“Georges Bregy has been released with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement.

“Mr Bregy will receive all contractual payments owed to him.”

Bregy took over from Gilbert Gress in June 2001 and led Zurich into the final round of the league season, but they currently lie fifth after failing to win any of their four games in the final round of the Nationalliga.

Former assistant coach Walter Grueter will take charge of first team affairs until a successor is appointed.
