Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner has defended semi-final opponents Greece against accusations they are negative.

Greece have become the surprise packagae at Euro 2004, but Otto Rehhagel’s team has been criticised in some quarters for their over-reliance on defence and good organisation.

However, Bruckner believes such critcism is ill-founded.

“Greece beat the hosts, Portugal, and the title holders, France,” said Bruckner. “I don’t agree that they rely only on destructive play.

“They showed an attacking mind in the opening game against Portugal and they have had more time to rest than we have. That’s a certain advantage.”
