Manchester United’s Nicky Butt has revealed that his future might lie elsewhere, after growing despondent with the lack of first-team opportunities at Old Trafford.

The England midfielder has only started nine games so far this season, largely due to the arrival of Brazilian Kleberson, Roy Keane’s return from injury and Philip Neville’s impressive form.

Butt has played more than 350 times for United has been linked to moves to Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. Butt is hoping to get a decision soon on his future.

“Hopefully I have a good few years’ left but the last thing I want is to get to the end of my career and reflect that I wasted so much time when I wasn’t playing because you can never get it back,’ said Butt.

‘When you are in this situation, you do start to think about having to play away from United.”
